Engineering Performance of Fly Ash Stabilized Çatalağzı Clay

Stabilizing of soils can be done with physical, chemical and hydraulic methods. Chemical stabilization is one the most widely used method among them. In this study, low plasticity Çatalağzı clayey soil chosen as a research material. F type fly ash are additive. Soil mixed various amount (0%, 10%, 20% 30%) ash. Index tests (hydrometer, specific gravity, liquid limit, plastic limit standard compaction) were performed on soil. Then samples prepared optimum water content obtained from compaction test exposed to unconfined compressive strength (UCS), moisture condition value (MCV) California bearing ratio (CBR) tests. Curing time selected 0, 7 28 days for UCS test. CBR includes air curing 4 full soaking. MCV has no time. Addition increase untreated S10FA, S20FA S30FA having day 1.46, 1.51 1.53 times clay Rate in gets slow down after days. S10FA 18.3 while it 12.2 which means 50% increase. Fly 10% have significant change even decrease slightly. values increased an addition also. It been concluded that increases engineering performance but not suitable subgrade highway when taking into account
